A growth mindset is a concept that we can get smarter through hard work and dedication. This means that struggling with something difficult doesn’t mean you’re not smart—it’s a chance to grow your intelligence. "In a growth mindset, people believe that their most basic abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work. Brains and talent are just the starting point. This view creates a love of learning and a resilience that is essential for great accomplishment. Virtually all great people have had these qualities. Teaching a growth mindset creates motivation and productivity in the worlds of business, education, and sports."
How does this fit into our classroom?
The concept of growth mindset is the foundation of my teaching philosophy. I believe that all students are capable of achieving higher goals not only in their academic life but in their personal life too! In our classroom we see our mistakes and challenges as opportunities to grow our brains for learning.
